I wrote this a while back when the neocons (on the HC forum) we're having a tantrum over Chavez resisting Bush.
I tried to read up on this guy and some of the history and details today. I'm not ignorant, but I felt like I should get some more background before I make any real analysis. Chavez has been in the news for a while and up until now, I've respected what he's done so far, but I felt like I might have some bias going on since I like his style. Everything I read about Chavez, the referendum, and the rest suggests I'm still correct in my assessment of him and the situation. I could find nothing that suggested anything close to an actual criticism. Just speculation and slander, and reams of commentary from biased sources. Sources with vested financial interests.
I'll never live this one down, but from what I can tell, this guy is a hero in the spirit of the founding fathers. A true revolutionary in the classic sense.
He's got a third world country with a democracy functioning better than the first world. I could find nothing that suggested anything close to an actual criticism. Just speculation and slander, and reams of commentary from biased sources. Sources with vested financial interests.
Obama already stated the guy is an obstacle to progress. We know what that means. And he accuses us of empiricism...I wonder why?
Self determination is a primary fundamental of our countries ideals. And empiricism is infringing on other countries right to self determination. And infringing the right of the people. Our country has become the anti-thesis of itself.
It is our country that impedes progress, in order to feed the profits of the powers that be.
And every accusation leveled against him is committed tenfold (to be beyond fair) by the US government.
Call me a traitor, but if you can't see the parallels between his actions and those of the founding fathers...
Plus, he's got big balls and most/if not all of what he says about the US is true.
I wish our country had a real leader like Chavez. And a real system of discourse like his country, not this puppet show scam we have. Chavez just amplifies the puppetness of Obama and our media induced charade.
I think they should put Chavez on Mt. Rushmore.
